James Elser

James Elser is a Distinguished Sustainability Scientist and Regents’ Professor in the School of Life Sciences at Arizona State University. Elser has worked for over 20 years on major multi- and interdisciplinary projects related to biogeochemistry, ecosystem dynamics, and nutrient limitation with a special emphasis on phosphorus.

Bruce Rittman

Bruce Rittmann, is the Director of the Swette Center for Environmental Biotechnology in the Biodesign Institute, Regents’ Professor in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment, and a Distinguished Sustainability Scientist at Arizona State University. An international leader in managing microbial communities, Rittmann’s work is leading to new ways to clean up pollution, treat water and wastewater, capture renewable energy, and improve human health.

Helen Rowe

Helen Rowe is a Senior Sustainability Scientist and Assistant Research Professor in the School of Life Sciences at Arizona State University. Rowe is a Restoration Ecologist with research expertise in invasive species, agroecology and ecosystem services.

Aggarwal is an agricultural and resource economist whose work focuses on the links between globalization, local ecosystems, and the role of markets and institutions.

Chris Thornton

Chris Thornton is Secretariat of European Sustainable Phosphorus Platform (ESPP). ESPP shares resources, competence, networks and information with SPA. Thornton has 20 years experience with different sectors of the phosphate industry and in phosphorus recycling, and he provides advice to ensure coordination of SPA activities with other global P initiatives.

Jared Stolzfus

Jared Stolzfus is a PhD candidate in the School of Sustainability at Arizona State University. He studies organic waste management for P cycling. His research involves case studies of organic waste management practices, and processing mechanisms range from Phoenix to India, composting to biomass energy plants.

Neng Iong Chan is a doctoral student in Environmental Life Sciences at Arizona State University. He studies the application of phosphorus recycling technologies in concert with phosphorus-efficient crops.

Mac Gifford

Mac Gifford is a doctoral student in Civil & Environmental Engineering at Arizona State University studying the removal and recovery of inorganic anions from water and wastewater. During his masters thesis developed technology to recover phosphorus from microbial biofuel residuals, with the potential to reduce nutrient demand for sustainable fuel production.
